POSITION OVERVIEW
The Analyst is responsible for researching, evaluating and preparing presentations and proposals on organic growth opportunities and potential new business opportunities and new markets. The Analyst, represents the Strategy and Business Development department by interfacing with a variety of internal departments, including Cheniere’s front office teams.
 
KNOWLEDGE
The candidate has a broad understanding of the global energy and power sectors; particularly LNG and natural gas.  The incumbent has a financial and business background as well as the ability to quickly understand and evaluate new opportunities in a continually evolving space.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide fundamental analytical support Monitor, analyze and summarize key industry trends and the impact they have on the Company’s commercial strategy
  • Build and maintain complex corporate and project level financial models (integrated financial statements, DCF, project finance, etc.) to support strategy and investment decisions
  • Draft Executive Committee and Board materials
  • Anticipate alternative market outcomes and develop scenario analysis and contingency plans to drive the Company’s strategic direction
  • Accounting for new Vendor Set-up; and assist when needed to input Receiving or Requisition transactions. 
  • Assists with Budget reconciliation and forecasting activities; including assisting Managers with reports and obtaining back-up data for recorded expenditures.
  • Reviews and verifies employee expense account statements to ensure correct categorization, coding and approval-levels.  Submits for further processing.
 
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)
  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor degree in Business with concentration in economics, finance or mathematics preferred.
  • Experience:  3+ years’ work experience, preferably in commercial business development or analytical functions. Experienced with presentations and interactions with senior management, including the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.  Broad understanding of the global energy and power sectors, particularly LNG and natural gas.  Multilingual is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets and markets, drawing out key trends and insights, as well as economic and business rationales for decisions based on fundamental analysis and primary research
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills--complex financial modeling is essential
    • Broad understanding of the global energy and power business including markets, projects, participants, trade patterns, value drivers, commercial structures and commercial agreements
    • Fundamental understanding of business development and commercialization activities including: alignment with corporate strategy, project feasibility and finance-ability, risk/reward, and the competitive landscape
    • Highly motivated, reliable self-starter with exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.  Effective communication at all levels of the organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends, especially considering cross-regional office communications
  • Periodically travel as business requires
