The Production Engineer reports to the Manager, Production Support. The Production Engineer will assist the Manager, Production Support in ensuring production engineering standards, processes, procedures, and tools are developed and maintained and to work with operating facility teams at the Cheniere Energy facilities to ensure compliance with same. 

The Production Engineer will also provide Production Engineering support through production plan and production performance analysis to the Cheniere Energy facilities at Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi and the Cheniere Energy Inc. Houston office.



The Production Engineer will have good knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of process equipment and associated systems. He or she should demonstrate experience in a hydrocarbon processing environment and have good understanding of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, hydrocarbon process chemistry, and be familiar with the hazards of hydrocarbon processes and the methods/systems and tools used to keep process facilities operating in safe manner. 


The Production Engineer will have knowledge of fundamentals of hydrocarbon measurement and reporting standards as pertains to gaseous/liquids hydrocarbon streams and should be experienced in the execution of energy and material balances in a hydrocarbon processing facility.

Experience in production planning for a hydrocarbon processing facility or pipeline operation is  preferred.



  • Assist the Manager, Production Support in maintaining enterprise wide production engineering processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Facilitate consultation and review of existing/ production engineering procedures and processes with operating facility teams.
  • Responsible for the preparation and timely issue of all assigned production reports as they relate to Company production performance and at frequencies as dictated by relevant internal and external timelines.
  • Provide required analysis of production forecasting data and forecasting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop and maintain production performance KPIs and databases required to support reporting and assessment for the  operational areas
  • Provide production engineering support for enterprise wide production data reporting systems and tools development.
  • Work with facility teams in the governance and implementation of the production reporting and loss- accounting systems.
  • Assist operational areas in identifying and capitalizing opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensures that all the relevant production data and KPIs are collected and accurately reported for input into assigned bench-marking exercises.
  • Assists in the annual preparation of the rolling five-year production plan by collecting the relevant data, as they relate to historical facility production and capacity performance. Perform data validation and analyses by applying appropriate analytical tools and systems to deliver these activities effectively.
  • Provide Production Engineering support to analysis being conducted by Cheniere’s Commercial Operations, Gas Supply and Business Planning teams
  • Provided Production Engineering support to site teams as required is production loss investigations and assessment


  1. Education and Certifications:  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.  A Professional Engineer’s (PE) license is a plus.
  2. Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years experience in an industrial setting in engineering or operations.  Experience with LNG liquefaction, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing is required.
  3. Skills:
    • An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
    • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines internally.
    • Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate, and maintain  liquefaction production facilities.
    • Possess the competencies and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with management, peers and the various facility level workers whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.
    • Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines. 
    • Good problem solving and analytical skills. 
    • Computer savvy including Project Management, database, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, and HYSYS computer process simulation

The Production Engineer is provided guidance and works under the direction of the Manager Production Support:



  • Frequently required to travel, as business conditions dictate. (25%-50%)
  • The job is performed predominantly in office environment with requirements to visit facilities that provide an industrial plant setting. 
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • Limited travel required, as business conditions dictate.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, talk, hear and write.
  • Occasionally the employee is required to work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and occasionally outdoors during which they can be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, and CPR.
