SUPPLY CHAIN TRANSFORMATION
The Cheniere Supply Chain Management organization is undergoing a transformation with the mission to provide focus on maximizing enterprise value in all assigned categories through a clear understanding of Cheniere’s role within the supply chain.  We will provide optimal sourcing strategies, contracting, materials management and logistics while pursuing our goal to reduce supply chain risk and costs, provide a deep understanding of supply markets and business drivers while ensuring security of supply by optimizing the supply, demand, fulfillment, and services business processes.  The new organization will deliver sustainable breakthrough levels of value to the Cheniere’s businesses by utilizing our scale and capabilities, leveraging the enterprise spend and securing distinctive supply relationships.   We will fully engage resources, skills and technology appropriately in a systemic approach to deliver maximum velocity and value solutions while ensuring business ownership, integration and alignment, and a focus on total cost of ownership.
 
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Category Specialist is a key member of the Supply Chain Management team accountable for supply chain strategies and tactics ensuring business requirements are fulfilled and value is optimized across the categories. The Specialist reports directly to Category Manager and is responsible for development and execution of category strategies in support of Indirect Services and Information Technology.  The role includes understanding of the business objectives and desired outcomes, engaging internal clients, understanding options and risks associated with supply markets. The Category Specialist will also assist in building supplier relationships in order to achieve superior supplier performance, negotiating commercial terms to deliver the best value while minimizing risk.
 
KNOWLEDGE
In depth knowledge of all Cheniere Category Strategies, business objectives related to SCM, and relevant supply markets.  In addition, knowledge of all typical or standard contract provisions including provisions regarding warranties, confidentiality, title and risk of loss, reporting requirements, taxes, indemnities and insurance provisions. Skilled at processing Service / Purchase Orders through Oracle.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assists the Category Manager in exploring the wider supply market and industry markets to identify opportunities that Cheniere can leverage for great benefit delivery or to mitigate supply risk.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of creativity and challenge.
  • Assists the Category Manager in the required due diligence in mitigating all external supply risk from supplier selection through contract execution.
  • Communicates effectively and with integrity across key business clients to align direction between the category and the internal client.
  • Assists in the implementation and realizes value through effective “strategic cost management” utilizing best in class methods (e.g. should cost, total cost of ownership).
  • Participates in cross-functional teams in the category strategy development, sourcing and negotiations
  • Assists in the development of category short and long-term business plans to facilitate achievement of goals.
  • Supports and delivers robust cost management and minimizes business risk through rigorous contract management control
  • In coordination with the Legal Department, assists with resolution of contract claims or disputes whenever necessary.
  • Participate in the Category Management and Strategic Sourcing training and development initiatives.
  • Manage the sourcing for services from providers, engaging appropriate Legal support throughout the negotiation process, facilitating requirements gathering from the business for new contracts and contract renewals.
  • Develop and maintain a broad understanding of Sourcing Strategies through the assessment of emerging and changing business needs, as well as industry best practices.
  • Research, negotiate and establish contracts with qualified vendors in order to secure quality equipment on time at optimum cost savings for the Company.
  • Draft, evaluate, negotiate, and execute contracts (various types, including lump sum [firm, fixed price], time based, and multi-year contracts).
  • Recommend and qualify new vendors.
  • Manage purchases of services that are ordered and processed through the company Oracle automated system.
 
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)
  • Education and Certifications:  A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related Business area is preferred.
  • Experience: 5 - 7 years’ experience in accepted supply chain principles and processes, preferably with a background in category management or in-direct procurement.  Must have experience in executing category strategies, contracts and supply alliances, procurement of services (including qualification and audit), contract management and commercial negotiations.

  • Category Strategy Development and Application: Basic: Deploys sub-commodity strategy within own area with limited supervision
  • Demand Management: Basic:  Supports business users in application of basic demand optimization techniques (e.g. designing simple work call-off approval process)
  • Sourcing: Skillful:  Manages large value, complex selection processes (multi-million, multi-year, regional); leading development of qualifications and award criteria for category teams at the sub-category level
  • Negotiating and Influencing: Skillful:  Segments the negotiation in order to deliver the best outcome for Cheniere, ensuring a broad and longer-term view of value is taken
  • Contract Execution and Management: Skillful:  Develops clear and concise contractual documentation for more complex or medium risk contracts (e.g. larger items of Terminal equipment) or customizes templates as required
  • Materials Management: Basic:  Utilizes material management processes and tools, and uses material control systems
  • Supplier Performance/Relationship Management: Skillful:  Develops process for determining the appropriate level of supplier performance / relationship management
  • Supply Chain Risk Management: Skillful:  Manages key risks assessment and mitigation at an agreement level, involving and facilitating input from appropriate specialists
  • Financial Skills: Skillful:  Demonstrates ability to apply various cost calculation methods such as cash-flow analysis, total cost of ownership, all information available in the LexisNexis too to conduct a deeper financial analysis in order to deliver significant additional value

WORK CONDITIONS
  • Job is performed in a typical office environment with frequent visits to the site locations.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • Required to travel as business conditions dictate.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations.
